Navaratri or Navratri means nine nights. Sharad Navratri is one of the major festivals of Hindus which is also known as Durga Puja. All nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped during Navratri. The nine days of Navratri are considered extremely sacred.

On this day, along with the establishment of the Kalash, worship of Goddess Shailputri will also be done. Then it will be followed by worship of Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri respectively. Maha Ashtami will fall on 06 October and Mahanavami on 07 October. After this, Navratri will conclude with immersion on 08 October.

On the first day of Navratri i.e. on September 29, auspicious combination of Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Amrit Yoga is becoming. Therefore, it is believed that this time the duration of auspicious time will be longer for a smaller establishment.According to the Hindu calendar, the auspicious auspicious time of establishment in the morning will be from 9.15 am to 12:20 pm. After this, it will be from 1.45 am to 3:30 pm in the afternoon. Then in the evening the auspicious time will be from 6 to 15 minutes to 9: 45 minutes for less installation.

According to the Gregorian calendar, this festival falls every year in the month of September-October. This time Shardiya Navratri starts from 29 September till 07 October. Vijayadashami or Dussehra (Vijayadashami or Dussehra) will be celebrated on 08 October.During this time, people worship the nine forms of the Goddess and ask for her blessings. It is believed that in these nine days, whoever worships Goddess Durga with true heart, fulfills all her wishes. This festival shows that no matter how big the lie and no matter how powerful the sin, in the end the victory is only of truth and religion.


Navratri has special significance in Hinduism. Navratri falls twice a year, which are known as Chaitra Navratri and Sharad Navratri. While the Hindu year begins with Chaitra Navratri, Shardiya Navratri symbolizes the victory of truth over religion and untruth over unrighteousness.There are different reasons for celebrating Navratri and Durga Puja. It is believed that Goddess Durga killed a demon named Mahishasura. Navadurga is worshiped in Navratri as a symbol of good over evil. At the same time, some people believe that in these nine days of the year, the Mother Goddess comes to her maternal home. In such a way, these nine days are celebrated as Durga Utsav.This festival is a reflection of the fact that where mother's love is created. At the same time, a vicious form of mother can also kill evil beings.

Devotees resolve to fast for the entire nine days. The Kalash is established on the first day and then the virgin girls are fed on the day of Ashtami or Navami. Ramlila is also staged in these nine days.Dandiya Raas and Garba dance are celebrated in Navratri in Gujarat and Maharashtra. During Navratri in Rajasthan, Rajputs also offer animal sacrifices to please their clan goddess. In Tamil Nadu, the footprints and statues of the goddess are installed in the house in the form of tableaux, known as Golu or Kolu. All the neighbors and relatives come to see this tableau.

Ordnance worship is done on the day of Navami in Karnataka. The Dussehra of Mysore here is world famous.At the same time, Durga Utsav is celebrated in West Bengal from the last four days of Navratri, that is, from Shasthi to Navami.


Most people observe a nine-day fast in Navratri, the festival of Goddess Aradhana. Many people do not eat salt or take only fruit. This leads to loss of health. Fast for nine days, but not empty stomach.Fasting for nine days does not mean stopping eating or just consuming fruits and sweets. Fasting in this way can cause vomiting, headache, weakness, increase or decrease of blood pressure etc.

During the fast, add rock salt in sago porridge and eat it. Eat Chana, Potato, Yogurt. These healthy people and patients of diabetes can also eat. This will keep digestion good during fasting. Water chestnut flour pudding can also be eaten. Keep in mind that after fasting for nine days, when you get into the normal routine, do not start eating salt immediately. This can cause problems. - Keep eating something at intervals of two hours. This will not increase obesity and also will not cause weakness.

To avoid dehydration during the fast, use coconut water or other beverages twice or more times a day. Along with catering in the fast, do a little morning walk. Make it at home. In the evening- pomegranate is very beneficial during fasting. It gives strength and energy.
